Marcus Neal Jr. Transitions from Safety to Linebacker for Penn State Football
Penn State football player Marcus Neal Jr. has made the transition from safety to linebacker, as announced by coach Matt Campbell on Tuesday.
Neal's playing time at safety had decreased, with only 11 snaps recorded against Michigan and none against USC. Prior to the change, he participated in linebacker drills, which led to the decision to shift him to a full-time linebacker role.
This position change comes at a crucial time for the team, as the linebacker unit has been affected by injuries, including a season-ending injury to Alex Tatsch. Campbell expressed confidence in Neal's abilities, noting his physicality and speed, which are beneficial for both inside and outside linebacker roles.
