Mariners Assign Jhonathan Díaz to Triple-A Tacoma

The Seattle Mariners announced on Monday that left-handed pitcher Jhonathan Díaz was not claimed after being designated for assignment and has been assigned outright to Triple-A Tacoma.

Díaz, who was added to the 40-man roster just last week, made one appearance for the Mariners, allowing a home run in 1 1/3 innings. He has a total of seven big league appearances with Seattle since 2024, primarily serving as rotation depth in Tacoma.

Before joining the Mariners, Díaz played three seasons with the Los Angeles Angels, accumulating 47 2/3 innings in the majors. His career statistics include a 4.72 ERA and a strikeout rate of 15.1%. If he accepts the assignment, he will become a minor league free agent at the end of the season unless he is added back to the 40-man roster.
