Mariners' Colt Emerson Placed on Injured List Due to Wrist Injury

Colt Emerson, a shortstop for the Seattle Mariners, has been placed on the 10-day injured list due to left wrist tendon inflammation. This decision follows a challenging start to his major league career, where he recorded a batting average of .190 with a high strikeout rate in 69 games after debuting on May 17, 2026.

Emerson's wrist issues date back to early spring training, and he had been managing the pain throughout the season, even receiving a cortisone shot in April. Following his demotion to Triple-A, he admitted to playing through the injury. Mariners president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto expressed disappointment that Emerson did not communicate the severity of his condition sooner.

In Emerson's absence, the Mariners have called up Brock Rodden, who made his MLB debut and contributed with two RBIs in his first game. The Mariners are currently struggling, having lost seven of their last eight games, and sit six games behind the Houston Astros in the AL West standings.
