Mariners Considered Carlos Mendoza for Managerial Role Before Phillies Hire
Carlos Mendoza, the former manager of the New York Mets, was considered for the managerial position with the Seattle Mariners prior to his recent hiring by the Philadelphia Phillies as their third base coach.
Mendoza withdrew from the Mariners' search after accepting the role with Philadelphia. He was let go by the Mets in late June when the team was significantly underperforming. In his new position, Mendoza will also take on responsibilities as the infield coach.
The Mariners are currently without a manager following Dan Wilson's departure after a challenging season. Reports indicate that the team is seeking an experienced candidate, with Joe Espada, the former Astros manager, being the only known candidate left for the position.
