Mariners Place Luke Raley on Injured List, Call Up Stuart Fairchild

The Seattle Mariners have announced that Luke Raley has been placed on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to July 31, due to a left forearm strain. To replace him on the active roster, outfielder Stuart Fairchild has been called up from Triple-A.

Raley has been dealing with elbow discomfort, which has contributed to a significant decline in his performance over the past two months. Initially, he had a strong start to the season with a .280 batting average and 13 home runs, but his recent performance has dropped to a .441 OPS with only two homers in his last 121 plate appearances.

This injury comes shortly after J.P. Crawford was also placed on the 10-day IL due to wrist inflammation, adding to the Mariners' struggles as they have a 6-14 record in their last 20 games. Fairchild, who signed a minor league deal with Seattle in July, has previously played for the Guardians and briefly for the Mariners in 2022.
