Mariners Promote Michael Arroyo from Triple-A Tacoma
The Seattle Mariners have officially promoted outfield and second base prospect Michael Arroyo from Triple-A Tacoma. This announcement comes as the team makes adjustments to their roster, including optioning infielder Patrick Wisdom to Tacoma and moving right-hander Nick Davila from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL due to an SC joint sprain, which will sideline him for the remainder of the season.
Arroyo, who is not currently on the Mariners' 40-man roster, is regarded as a high-end prospect, ranking among the top 70 farmhands according to various scouting sources. He signed with the Mariners in 2022 for a record bonus of $1.375 million for a Colombian prospect and has primarily played in the infield during his first three years with the organization. However, he has also spent significant time in left field this season, making 66 starts at that position across Double-A and Triple-A.
In his recent Triple-A performance, Arroyo achieved a batting line of .277/.353/.490 with eight home runs and a low strikeout rate of 16.2% over 235 plate appearances. He will replace the lefty-swinging Cole Young in the lineup against Athletics pitcher Gage Jump, as the Mariners seek to enhance their offensive output.
