Mariners Show Interest in Rocco Baldelli for Manager Position

The Seattle Mariners are actively seeking a new manager after parting ways with Dan Wilson following a challenging season. They have received permission to interview Joe Espada, a former Astros manager, but Rocco Baldelli, who previously managed the Minnesota Twins, is also under consideration.

Baldelli, who played in the major leagues from 2003 to 2010, transitioned into coaching in 2012 and has held various roles, including managerial positions. He led the Twins to two AL Central titles during his first two seasons, earning AL Manager of the Year honors in his rookie year. However, his tenure ended after a disappointing 70-92 season, leading to his dismissal last September.

Despite the setback, Baldelli has expressed a desire to return to managing. His recent experience with the Dodgers, where he served as a special assistant, could position him as a strong candidate for the Mariners, who are looking for a manager with a proven track record.
