Mark Cuban Withdraws Legal Action Against Mavericks' Governor Over Arena Plans

Mark Cuban has decided to withdraw his legal petition concerning the Dallas Mavericks' plans for a new arena in North Dallas. This decision comes after a series of disputes with team governor Patrick Dumont regarding the ownership transition.

Cuban's legal team had previously filed a Rule 202 Petition seeking sworn testimony from a representative of Arena Development Intermediate, a company formed by the Mavericks. The petition aimed to obtain information about the company's structure and financial documents related to an option agreement for a 104-acre site at the former Valley View Mall.

The Texas Business Court dismissed the motion without prejudice, and the scheduled arbitration hearing was canceled. Cuban's frustrations stem from the ownership transition, which saw him sell his majority stake in the team in December 2023 while retaining control over basketball operations. The Mavericks are looking to move into a new arena before their lease at the American Airlines Center expires in 2031.
