Marlins Activate Xavier Edwards, Owen Caissie Placed on Injured List
The Miami Marlins have activated second baseman Xavier Edwards from the 10-day injured list, filling the roster spot left by outfielder Owen Caissie, who has been placed on the same list due to a lumbar stress reaction.
Edwards had been sidelined since August 30 after suffering a left thumb sprain during a game against the Washington Nationals. His recovery was swift, allowing him to return after just two weeks. In his absence, the Marlins recorded a 4-8 record, currently sitting at 73-76 and six games behind the last NL wild card spot.
Caissie’s injury was confirmed following a CT scan that revealed a stress fracture, which explains his recent back and leg pain. He is likely done for the season, finishing his first full MLB season with 14 home runs and a .220 batting average over 330 plate appearances. Caissie struggled defensively and had a sub-replacement level fWAR of -0.5 across 108 games in 2026.
