Marlon Vera Parts Ways with Coach Jason Parillo After Four Losses
Marlon Vera has ended his long-standing coaching relationship with Jason Parillo after experiencing four consecutive losses. This announcement comes as Vera prepares for his fight against Charles Jourdain at UFC 331, scheduled for September 19 in Los Angeles.
The bantamweight fighter expressed a need for change following defeats to Sean O'Malley, Deiveson Figueiredo, Aiemann Zahabi, and David Martinez, which have left him without a win since August 2023. Despite never being stopped in his 36 professional fights, Vera has faced challenges with close decision losses attributed to slow starts and inactivity.
Vera is now training full-time with 21-year-old Raul Rosas Jr. at his personal gym, with Rosas' father managing the training camp. Vera began working with Parillo in 2018, achieving significant success, including notable victories that led to a title shot at UFC 299. He emphasized the importance of exploring all options to reverse his current losing streak before it affects his career long-term.
