Maro Engel Battles Hard Against Porsche Drivers in DTM Title Decider
Maro Engel, driving for Winward Mercedes, faced off against three Porsche competitors during the DTM title decider at Hockenheim. Despite his efforts, Engel ended the race twelve points behind the new champion, Thomas Preining, who finished third.
Engel encountered significant challenges from his Porsche rivals, particularly in the early stages of the race. He noted that the competition was intense, recalling a previous experience at the Sachsenring where he faced aggressive driving. Engel managed to overtake Ricardo Feller early on, narrowly avoiding contact with the wall.
Feller, who later allowed Preining to pass, stated that he did not intend to interfere with Engel's race. Engel also had to contend with Bastian Buus, who made overtaking difficult. The race featured various strategic maneuvers, with Engel emphasizing the importance of fair play throughout the competition.
