MarShawn Lloyd Scores First NFL Touchdown After Three-Year Wait
MarShawn Lloyd, a running back for the Green Bay Packers, scored his first NFL touchdown during a preseason game on Friday night. This achievement comes after a challenging start to his career, where injuries and a bout of appendicitis restricted him to just one regular-season appearance since being drafted in the third round in 2024.
The touchdown was an 11-yard reception from quarterback Jordan Love, and Lloyd also recorded six carries for 17 yards over 16 plays. He expressed excitement about returning to the end zone, noting that it had been three years since his last touchdown during his final college season at USC.
Head coach Matt LaFleur commended Lloyd's performance, highlighting his competitive spirit and the successful execution of a choice route that led to the touchdown. Currently, Lloyd is positioned third on the depth chart behind Josh Jacobs and Chris Brooks, but his preseason efforts may provide him with opportunities in the upcoming regular season.
