Martin O'Neill Supports Callum McGregor's Assessment of Celtic's Performance
Celtic manager Martin O'Neill has expressed his agreement with captain Callum McGregor's comments about the team's recent performance issues. Following a 2-2 draw with Dundee United, McGregor described some of Celtic's play as lacking control, likening it to a 'bit basketball'.
McGregor highlighted that the positioning of strikers Callum Osmand and Camilo Duran as wingers might be contributing to the team's struggles, which have seen them win only three out of their last nine matches. When O'Neill was informed of McGregor's remarks, he acknowledged the captain's assessment and noted that both Osmand and Duran are primarily center forwards.
Despite the challenges, Celtic remains four points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership and could extend their lead to seven with a win against Falkirk. O'Neill remains optimistic about the team's potential for improvement as players acclimate, stating that many did not participate in pre-season training and joined the squad late.
