Martin Wrigley and Bettine Harris Secure First 470 World Title
British sailors Martin Wrigley and Bettine Harris have won the gold medal at the 470 World Championship held in Enoshima, Japan, marking their first world title.
The duo improved upon their previous year's bronze medal performance by successfully defending against a challenge from Spain's Jordi Xammar and Marta Cardona, the reigning champions.
Harris expressed the significance of their victory, particularly in Japan, which she described as the unofficial home of the 470 class. Wrigley and Harris are set to defend their title at the Sailing World Championships in Gdynia, Poland, next June, where they will also aim to secure a quota place for Great Britain in the 470 class for the 2028 Olympics.
