Martins Sesks Celebrates ERC Victory Amid Uncertainty Over WRC Future
Martins Sesks concluded a challenging 2026 season with a victory at the European Rally Championship season finale, held in Portugal. The M-Sport Ford driver showcased his skills on the gravel stages, ultimately winning the Rally 6 Cities North of Portugal after joining the Team MRF Tyres squad.
Sesks established a 10.5-second lead over his teammate Roope Korhonen before facing a setback with a broken suspension mount. Despite this, he regained the lead when Korhonen's vehicle experienced issues, allowing Sesks to secure his fifth ERC win by a margin of 1 minute and 2.9 seconds over Pablo Sarrazin, with Korhonen finishing third.
Following the victory, Sesks reflected on the challenges faced during the WRC season, where he achieved a best finish of seventh. While he expressed hope for a drive next year, he did not provide specific details about his future plans. Sesks emphasized the importance of securing a deal that offers more consistent seat time for the upcoming season.
