Mason Courville Joins Penn State Men's Hockey Program

Mason Courville, a goaltender for the Flint Firebirds, has announced his commitment to join the Penn State men's hockey team. The announcement was made via his Instagram on Monday.

At 16 years old, Courville hails from Palmyra, Pennsylvania, and has a height of 6’1″ and weight of 181 pounds. He played the 2025-26 season with the Flint Firebirds in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), where he achieved an 8-8-1-1 record, a 3.06 goals-against average, a .893 save percentage, and one shutout. His performance earned him the title of Rookie of the Year for the Firebirds.

Courville made history as the youngest OHL goalie to record a shutout since 2007. He also contributed to the United States team, which secured a silver medal at the 2026 Hinzla Gretzky Cup, leading all goaltenders in the tournament with a 2.14 goals-against average. Prior to his time with the Firebirds, he played for the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Knights 15U AAA, where he had a successful season with a 14-4-4 record.
