Matt Brennan Claims Victory in Stage Two of Vuelta a Espana
Matt Brennan from Great Britain secured his first stage victory in the second stage of the Vuelta a Espana on Sunday, while Tadej Pogacar maintained his position at the top of the overall standings.
The 21-year-old Brennan triumphed in the final kilometers of the 214km route from Monaco to Manosque. Initially, it appeared that his teammate Wout van Aert and Pogacar would contend for the win, but as the race progressed, Van Aert was caught, and Pogacar chose to conserve energy, allowing Brennan to seize the opportunity.
Brennan's success places him third in the general classification, just 10 seconds behind Pogacar, who won the opening time trial. Pau Miquel Delgado from Bahrain Victorious finished second, with Pogacar crossing the line in third. The race continues into the French Pyrenees on Monday.
