Matt Fitzpatrick Discusses Scottie Scheffler's PGA Tour Player of the Year Candidacy

Matt Fitzpatrick is among the contenders for the 2026 PGA Tour Player of the Season award, having secured victories in three events this season, including the Valspar Championship and the Zurich Classic.

Fitzpatrick noted that Scottie Scheffler stands out due to his consistent performance in major tournaments, even when he hasn't won. Currently, Scheffler leads the FedExCup standings with 4,873 points, significantly ahead of Fitzpatrick, who has 3,426 points.

While Fitzpatrick expressed his desire to win the Player of the Year award, he acknowledged that Scheffler has likely already secured it based on his performance throughout the season. Fitzpatrick indicated that winning one of the final two events would be crucial for him to have a chance at overtaking Scheffler.
