Matt Gogel Suspended for Six Months Due to Betting Violation

Matt Gogel, a 55-year-old American golfer, has received a six-month suspension from the PGA Tour for betting on golf tournaments. The PGA Tour confirmed the suspension, which is effective from August 23 and will last until February 22.

Gogel, who competes on the PGA Tour Champions circuit, admitted to placing small recreational wagers in 2024 and 2025, although he did not bet on events in which he was participating. He expressed regret over the violation of PGA Tour policy, stating it was an honest mistake.

In 2026, Gogel achieved two top-10 finishes in 18 events on the PGA Tour Champions and recently tied for 30th place at the Rogers Charity Classic in Calgary. Throughout his career, he has earned over $760,000 in prize money and is known for winning the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am in 2002.
