Matt Light Credits Rob Gronkowski for Extending NFL Career
Matt Light has disclosed that Rob Gronkowski played a significant role in his choice to postpone retirement and play an additional season with the New England Patriots.
After ten seasons in the NFL, Light contemplated ending his career but decided to stay on after forming a close relationship with Gronkowski, who joined the Patriots in 2010. Light expressed that having one more season with Gronkowski was a key factor in his decision.
Although the Patriots did not win the Super Bowl that year, Light reflected on the memorable experiences he shared with Gronkowski. Their bond extended beyond football, as Light supported Gronkowski's transition into the league, and they have maintained their friendship post-retirement. Light retired in 2012 after the Patriots' Super Bowl XLVI loss, citing the physical toll of the sport.
Both Light and Gronkowski are now collaborating on a sweepstakes to benefit their respective charities, the Light Foundation and the Gronk Nation Youth Foundation.
