Matteo Cairoli Secures Pole Position at DTM Nurburgring
Matteo Cairoli from Emil-Frey-Ferrari claimed pole position during the DTM qualifying at the Nurburgring, clocking a fastest time of 1:25.345. This achievement marks his second pole in the series and is a crucial moment in his title pursuit.
Cairoli's performance comes after a challenging period, as he is currently 52 points behind the championship leaders. Despite his strong qualifying effort, he did not surpass the qualifying record set by Mirko Bortolotti in 2023. Thomas Preining of Manthey Porsche finished just 0.036 seconds behind Cairoli, securing second place.
Lucas Auer from Landgraf-Mercedes took third, tying in points with Nicki Thiim, who qualified in 11th place and faces a tough race ahead. DTM leader Maro Engel and Bortolotti will start with additional weight due to success ballast, impacting their performance in the upcoming race.
