Matthew Brennan Claims Third Victory at Vuelta a Espana

Matthew Brennan of Great Britain achieved his third victory at the 2026 Vuelta a Espana on Wednesday, winning stage 11 with a sprint finish. The 21-year-old rider from Visma-Lease a Bike outpaced French competitor Bryan Coquard and Belgium's Jordi Meeus during the final moments of the 153.8km stage from Cartagena to Lorca.

In the overall standings, Enric Mas from Spain retained the red jersey, holding a lead of one minute and 18 seconds over Slovenia's Primoz Roglic. Britain's Oscar Onley is positioned fourth, trailing by just over a minute. Brennan celebrated his win by signaling three fingers, marking his impressive debut in Grand Tours, having previously won the second and fifth stages.

Notably, Lidl-Trek's Mads Pedersen withdrew from the stage due to illness. The upcoming 12th stage will challenge riders with a 166.6km route through the mountains, featuring five categorized climbs, including a double ascent of Velefique and a summit finish at Calar Alto.
