Mauricio Pochettino Extends Contract as USA Men's National Team Coach Until 2030

Mauricio Pochettino will remain the head coach of the U.S. men's national soccer team after signing a new contract that extends through the 2030 World Cup, as announced by U.S. Soccer on Monday.

The 54-year-old Argentine took over the team in the fall of 2024 and previously led them to a round of 16 finish in the recent World Cup. Pochettino noted that the U.S. Soccer Federation's commitment to retaining him before the tournament influenced his decision to continue for another four years.

During his tenure, the U.S. team achieved notable victories, including wins over Paraguay and Australia, although they faced a setback with a loss to Belgium in the knockout stage. Pochettino aims to prepare the team for upcoming tournaments, including the 2027 Concacaf Gold Cup and the 2028 Copa América, as they work towards qualifying for the 2030 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Portugal, Spain, and Morocco.
