Mavericks' Patrick Dumont Discusses Future Arena Plans
The Dallas Mavericks are planning to move into a new arena for the 2031/32 season, as their lease at the American Airlines Center is set to expire in 2031. Team governor Patrick Dumont expressed the desire to keep the new venue within Dallas city limits, highlighting the importance of a long-term home for the franchise.
Dumont indicated that the Mavericks are considering the former site of the Valley View Mall for the new arena. He emphasized the need for a facility that can represent Dallas and provide fans with a premier NBA experience. Although Dumont has a background in operating resorts and casinos, he clarified that there are no current plans to build a casino-resort next to the new arena, citing space and timing constraints.
In his conversation, Dumont reiterated the Mavericks' commitment to staying in Dallas and the necessity of finding a suitable location for their future home.
