Max Fried Set to Return for Yankees Amid Crucial Series
The New York Yankees are preparing for the return of left-hander Max Fried, who will start in a doubleheader against the Boston Red Sox on Saturday. Fried was placed on the 15-day injured list on August 17 due to a bone bruise in his pitching elbow, a condition that previously sidelined him for two months earlier this season.
Fried's recovery this time was notably quicker, and he has been effective when healthy, boasting a 2.81 ERA over 15 starts this season. His return is particularly timely as the Yankees are engaged in a critical four-game series against the Red Sox, where they hold a narrow two-game lead for the American League's top wild-card spot.
Fried's activation will strengthen a Yankees rotation that recently lost Ryan Weathers to injury. With Fried back, he will join fellow pitchers Cam Schlittler, Gerrit Cole, Carlos Rodón, and Will Warren. The Yankees are also managing their roster, having recalled Elmer Rodríguez to fill in during Fried's absence.
