Max Fried Set to Return from Injured List Against Red Sox
Max Fried, a left-handed pitcher for the New York Yankees, is set to return from the injured list to start one of the two games against the Boston Red Sox on Saturday, as confirmed by manager Aaron Boone.
Fried has been sidelined since August 14 due to a bone bruise in his left elbow, which previously caused him to miss two months earlier this season. In five starts since his return on July 22, he has allowed one run or fewer in four games, including a recent outing against the Seattle Mariners where he gave up one run on five hits over five innings.
Currently, Fried holds a record of 4-4 with a 2.81 ERA across 15 starts, accumulating 79 strikeouts and 27 walks. He is in his second season with the Yankees and was recognized as an MLB All-Star three times. The Red Sox will have Jake Bennett starting the first game of the doubleheader, while the second game's starter remains unannounced.
