Max Verstappen Celebrates First Singapore GP Win with Departing Engineer
Max Verstappen achieved his first victory at the Singapore Grand Prix, celebrating the win with his departing race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase. This event took place at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, where Verstappen also secured pole positions for both the sprint race and the grand prix.
Lambiase, who is set to leave Red Bull Racing to join McLaren by 2028, represented the team alongside Verstappen on the podium. His departure was announced in April 2026, with plans for Tom Hart to take over as Verstappen's race engineer in 2027.
During the post-race press conference, Verstappen reflected on the significance of sharing the podium with Lambiase, noting that it was a special moment on a track where they had not previously won together. Currently, Verstappen ranks fourth in the drivers' standings with 221 points, trailing championship leader Kimi Antonelli by 119 points.
