Max Verstappen Critiques Circuit of the Americas Conditions
Max Verstappen has expressed strong concerns regarding the condition of the Circuit of the Americas, stating that it requires a complete overhaul rather than just resurfacing. He described the bumps on the track as unacceptable, which have been a major topic of discussion among drivers during the current Formula 1 weekend.
During a drivers' briefing, Verstappen highlighted the severe impact of the bumps, particularly in high-speed sections, which have posed risks during practice sessions. Despite previous resurfacing efforts, including work done before this year's event, drivers believe the issues persist and are detrimental to their performance and safety.
Bobby Epstein, chairman of the circuit, responded to Verstappen's remarks, suggesting that the track conditions were not as dire as portrayed. He acknowledged the bump at Turn 1 but claimed that other areas had been addressed. However, Verstappen remains critical, inviting Epstein to experience the track in a race car to understand the physical toll it takes on drivers.
