Max Verstappen Critiques Madrid Circuit Design Ahead of F1 Race

Max Verstappen has voiced his concerns regarding the new Madring circuit in Madrid, stating that it lacks overtaking opportunities. He echoed Lando Norris's sentiments about the excessively long pitlane, which he believes has not been well designed.

Following the qualifying session, drivers criticized the circuit, noting that while it may be entertaining for a single lap, the race could present significant challenges. Verstappen pointed out that the braking zones are poorly designed, making it difficult for drivers to overtake, as they require steering while braking.

Verstappen also mentioned that the drivers were not consulted during the circuit's design process, which he feels is a missed opportunity. He suggested that improvements could be made to enhance the racing experience and expressed a willingness to collaborate with track designers. The lengthy pitlane, which is divided by an exhibition hall, adds to the complexity of race strategy, especially given the high tyre degradation observed.
