Max Verstappen Expresses Frustration After US GP Qualifying
Max Verstappen qualified second for the United States Grand Prix, finishing behind Kimi Antonelli, which left him feeling frustrated. At the Circuit of the Americas, Verstappen was 0.179 seconds slower than Antonelli and only 0.036 seconds ahead of his teammate Isack Hadjar, who achieved his best qualifying result.
Despite earlier confidence in Q1 and Q2, Verstappen struggled with grip in Q3, which hindered his ability to compete for pole position. He noted that while he had a good feeling on used tires, the transition to new tires did not yield the expected performance. Verstappen acknowledged the impact of wind but emphasized that it was not the sole reason for his difficulties.
Verstappen, who has been critical of the track conditions at COTA, will start from the front row and aims to challenge Antonelli at the start. Currently, he ranks fourth in the standings with 221 points, seeking his third consecutive victory following wins in Malaysia and Singapore.
