Max Verstappen Recovers from Illness Ahead of Monza Race
Max Verstappen has reportedly recovered from the flu that affected his performance during his home race at Zandvoort. Upon arriving in Monza, he appeared to be in better health, although he expressed concerns about facing a relapse this weekend.
Verstappen described his experience at Zandvoort as difficult, noting that he felt unwell for several days after the event. He acknowledged the importance of recovery and expressed relief at feeling better. Despite this, he anticipates a challenging race at Monza, citing the track's energy inefficiency and the need for careful throttle management.
The driver has previously raised concerns about the upcoming 2026 rules overhaul and its impact on racing at Monza. He mentioned that while improvements are being made, the situation remains far from ideal. Verstappen also noted that other teams are introducing upgrades, which may put additional pressure on his team as they continue to learn and adapt their car for future races.
