Max Verstappen Responds to Former F1 Drivers Criticizing 2026 Regulations
Max Verstappen has responded to criticism from former Formula 1 drivers, asserting that they do not fully grasp the new regulations introduced for the championship in 2026.
During the Singapore Grand Prix weekend, Verstappen expressed his views after hearing comments from 1996 world champion Damon Hill. He noted that many ex-drivers fail to study the new regulations, which leads to confusing statements during interviews. While he acknowledged that not all former drivers fall into this category, he emphasized that some do.
Verstappen, who has been vocal about his concerns regarding the new regulations that emphasize electrical power in the engines, mentioned that he is not seeking validation from others, including fellow drivers Fernando Alonso and Lando Norris, who support his stance. He recently extended his contract with Red Bull Racing until 2030 and is currently fourth in the drivers' standings with 221 points, trailing Lewis Hamilton by eight points. The next race, the United States Grand Prix, is scheduled for October 23-25.
