Max Verstappen Sets New F1 Records at Monza

Max Verstappen made history at Monza during the 2025 Italian Grand Prix by recording a qualifying lap time of 1:18.792, achieving the fastest average speed ever in Formula 1 at 264.682 km/h. This remarkable feat allowed him to secure pole position, narrowly surpassing Lando Norris, who had a time of 1:18.869.

Verstappen's performance not only set a new qualifying record but also led to him winning the race with a total time of 1:13:24.325, averaging 250.706 km/h, thus marking the fastest full-distance Grand Prix in F1 history. This achievement broke Michael Schumacher's long-standing record from 2003.

In contrast, during the 2026 Italian Grand Prix, Verstappen qualified in sixth place with a time of 1:22.070 but moved up to fifth after a penalty was applied to another driver. Pierre Gasly took pole position this year, highlighting the shift in Verstappen's fortunes at the iconic circuit.
