Max Verstappen Signs Contract Extension with Red Bull Until 2030
Max Verstappen has confirmed a contract extension with Red Bull that will keep him with the team until 2030, following a period of serious consideration about leaving Formula 1. This announcement was made ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix, alleviating speculation regarding a potential move to another team or retirement.
Despite Red Bull's challenges in matching Mercedes' pace this season and Verstappen's frustrations with the current car designs, he expressed his commitment to the sport. He noted that discussions with Formula 1 and the FIA have led him to believe improvements are on the horizon, particularly with a potential return to simpler V8 engines.
Verstappen's new contract solidifies his position with Red Bull, where he has been since his debut in 2015. This extension will mark a record 15 seasons with the team. Team principal Laurent Mekies emphasized Verstappen's crucial role in the team's strategy and future success. Although Verstappen has not won a race this season, he remains a significant figure in F1, having previously won 71 races.
