Max Verstappen Wins Singapore GP Sprint After George Russell's Crash
Max Verstappen claimed victory in the Singapore Grand Prix sprint race after starting from pole position, while George Russell crashed out of the lead at the end of the first lap.
The race faced a delay of half an hour due to wet conditions on the track, with all cars beginning on intermediate tyres. Russell initially took the lead but lost control and collided with the wall shortly after the start. A safety car was deployed for five laps following multiple incidents, including a collision between Lance Stroll and Sergio Perez.
At the restart, Verstappen maintained his lead, gradually increasing his advantage over Lewis Hamilton. As the race progressed, tyre management became crucial due to the drying track. In the final laps, McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri collided, resulting in Piastri's retirement. Verstappen finished with a 2.6-second lead over Hamilton, while Charles Leclerc secured third place.
