McLaren Explains Team Order for Piastri at US GP

During the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix, McLaren team principal Andrea Stella explained the decision for Oscar Piastri to allow Lando Norris to overtake him early in the race. Both drivers started from the fourth row at the Circuit of The Americas, unable to compete with the leading teams in qualifying.

In the initial laps, Piastri struggled, losing time to the race leader and falling behind Norris, who reported being impeded by his teammate. McLaren instructed Piastri to let Norris pass on lap eight, after which Norris increased his lead significantly.

Stella noted that Norris had shown better pace throughout the weekend, particularly at this track, which posed challenges for Piastri. The team emphasized the importance of collaboration following a previous incident in Singapore, aiming to improve their overall performance and return to competitive standings in future races.
