McLaren Faces Challenges in Dutch GP Sprint Race
Lando Norris has urged his McLaren Formula 1 team to enhance its low-speed performance following difficulties in the Dutch Grand Prix sprint race. The team arrived at Zandvoort with upgrades aimed at improving the rear of the car, including a new rear wing assembly.
Initially, the upgrades appeared effective, as Norris qualified closely behind George Russell for sprint pole. However, during the race, Norris found himself defending against Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, who started on softer tyres and managed to overtake him on lap 18. McLaren's issues with rear tyre management and low-speed performance became evident, prompting team principal Andrea Stella to acknowledge the need for adjustments.
Norris expressed his frustration with the car's performance, particularly in slow-speed corners, stating that the team struggled compared to competitors. He noted that while the car excels in high-speed situations, it falls short in low-speed scenarios, impacting their overall competitiveness. Oscar Piastri, Norris's teammate, also remarked on the unexpected lack of pace during the sprint race.
