McLaren's F1 Car Handling Issues Will Persist Until 2027
McLaren's Formula 1 team is facing significant challenges with its car handling, which both drivers, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, have described as difficult. Team principal Andrea Stella has acknowledged that improvements cannot be made until the introduction of a new car in 2027.
The current handling issues have hindered the team's performance throughout the season, as drivers have had to adapt their techniques to cope with the car's characteristics. Norris noted that he often has to force the car into desired maneuvers, which adds to the mental strain during races.
Stella explained that the necessary changes to improve handling are fundamental and cannot be achieved by merely adding downforce. The team is addressing these issues with a long-term perspective, aiming for a significant overhaul with the MCL41 model set for 2027.
