Martin Brundle has stated that McLaren's recent victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix has ensured that the 2026 Formula 1 championship remains competitive, with 291 points still available for drivers and teams.

McLaren achieved its 14th win at the Hungaroring, attributed to a successful development package. Brundle noted that if McLaren's upgrades perform well at other circuits, the championship could see a significant shift in dynamics.

Looking ahead, there is uncertainty regarding the Qatar Grand Prix and the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix due to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East. F1 is preparing contingency plans for a potential European replacement race later in the year. The Bahrain Grand Prix has been relocated to Malaysia's Sepang circuit, scheduled for October 2-4.
