Mercedes Clarifies George Russell's Start Problem at Hungarian Grand Prix

Mercedes deputy team boss Bradley Lord provided insights into the problem that led to George Russell losing 13 positions at the start of the Hungarian Grand Prix. After a disappointing performance in Belgium, Russell aimed for a strong finish, starting from sixth on the grid, especially with his teammate facing a grid penalty.

As the race began, Russell struggled to accelerate and fell to 19th place by the end of the first lap. Lord explained that Russell experienced an anti-stall issue due to the engine revs exceeding the desired level while he was holding his wait revs. This malfunction prevented him from achieving an optimal start.

Although the exact cause of the issue remains undisclosed, Lord commended Russell for his ability to recover during the race, ultimately finishing in seventh place. Russell expressed frustration over the recurring problems this season, noting that he has never faced such challenges in his career before.
