Mercedes Drivers Test Different Car Specifications at Singapore GP
During the Singapore Grand Prix weekend, Mercedes Formula 1 team is utilizing different car specifications for drivers Kimi Antonelli and George Russell, as stated by team principal Toto Wolff.
This decision follows a challenging performance at the previous race in Sepang, where Mercedes faced competition from Red Bull. Antonelli finished second while Russell was on track for a third-place finish until a power unit failure occurred.
At Marina Bay, Antonelli will drive the updated W17, while Russell will revert to an older specification to assess the effectiveness of the recent upgrades. Wolff noted that this approach aims to identify any issues with the new specifications and gather data for future development, particularly as the team prepares for the 2027 season.
