Mercedes Investigates Handling Issues for Antonelli's W17 at Dutch GP

Mercedes has initiated a thorough investigation into Kimi Antonelli's W17 following difficulties he experienced while driving during the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort.

Antonelli, who was leading early in the race, faced increasing challenges with the car's balance, particularly on hard tyres, which allowed Lando Norris to overtake him and secure victory. Despite receiving fresher tyres during a late Virtual Safety Car period, Antonelli could not regain his competitive edge, finishing behind Norris by 11.5 seconds.

Andrew Shovlin, Mercedes' trackside engineering director, noted that Antonelli reported worsening oversteer with each tyre change. The team is analyzing data to identify the cause of the handling issues, especially as they prepare for the upcoming Italian Grand Prix, where Antonelli is expected to start from the back of the grid due to an engine change. This investigation is critical as Mercedes faces increasing competition from Ferrari and McLaren.
