Mercedes Martinez's Final Tour Cut Short by Knee Injury
The Last Run Tour for Mercedes Martinez, a notable figure in women's wrestling, has ended unexpectedly due to a serious knee injury. The 45-year-old announced on X that she suffered a torn ACL during a match on August 15 against Allie Katch and will need surgery at a later date.
Martinez expressed her heartbreak over the injury, stating that while some may continue their careers after such injuries, for her, it signifies the end of her in-ring journey. She had previously shared plans for this final tour, which she began in January, as a farewell after 25 years in professional wrestling.
Starting her career in 2001, Martinez has competed in various promotions, including WWE, AEW, and Ring of Honor, and has held multiple titles throughout her career. Although her in-ring career is concluding, she clarified that she is not saying goodbye to wrestling entirely.
