Mercedes Mone Discusses Near WWE Re-signing Before Joining AEW

Mercedes Mone, known as Sasha Banks during her time with WWE, disclosed that she was close to re-signing with WWE after her contract expired before deciding to join AEW.

In her latest Mone Mag edition, she recounted her experience in 2023 when she was still negotiating with WWE while receiving an invitation to attend All In London. Mone expressed her passion for professional wrestling, stating she could not miss such a significant event at Wembley Stadium.

During the event, she met AEW President Tony Khan, who showed enthusiasm for collaborating with her. Mone enjoyed the experience as a fan, which ultimately influenced her decision to sign with AEW. She is now scheduled to compete against Willow Nightingale for the AEW Women’s World Championship at All In 2026, also at Wembley Stadium.
