Merseyside Families Participate in Free Halloween Costume Swap
In Merseyside, parents are engaging in a free Halloween costume swap organized by Knowsley Council to alleviate the financial burden of purchasing costumes. The initiative, which coincides with the half-term holiday, aims to reduce the number of costumes discarded after Halloween.
Lola Roberts, who visited Prescot Library with her children, highlighted the high costs of costumes, noting her son's choice of a £40 clown outfit. She expressed satisfaction with the availability of free alternatives and the community involvement in the swap.
Grace Barlow from the council's recycling engagement team stated that the program not only helps families financially but also addresses textile waste. The council encourages families to donate unwanted costumes at library collection points after Halloween for reuse in future years.
