Merseyside Mother Establishes Women's Group to Combat Loneliness
Becky Saunders, a 39-year-old mother from Litherland, has founded a community group named Girls Who Gather to support women dealing with anxiety and loneliness. The initiative emerged after she experienced 14 months of severe anxiety and sought to connect with others facing similar challenges.
Initially, Becky reached out via social media to gauge interest, and she was pleasantly surprised when 11 women attended the first meeting. The group has since expanded, with regular gatherings attracting around 20 participants each month. Activities range from casual coffee meet-ups to creative classes like cake decorating and painting.
Becky emphasizes that the group provides a space for women to socialize without the pressure to share personal stories. She believes it is essential for women to take time for themselves outside of their roles as mothers and partners, allowing them to simply enjoy each other's company.
