Messi and Fray Fined for Incidents Against Philadelphia Union
Lionel Messi and Ian Fray from Inter Miami have been fined undisclosed amounts for separate incidents involving contact with Philadelphia Union players during a match that ended in a 2-2 draw.
During the second half, Messi made contact with Quinn Sullivan, slapping him on the back of the neck while they exchanged words. This match marked Messi's first goal since the passing of his father, Jorge Messi, along with an assist. Fray's fine stemmed from a separate incident where he grabbed Sullivan's neck after the player lost his footing, leading to Sullivan tackling Fray.
Additionally, Minnesota United FC defender Anthony Markanich was fined for embellishment during a different match against Atlanta United.
