Mets Acquire Cameron Weston from Orioles

The New York Mets have claimed right-handed pitcher Cameron Weston off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles and have assigned him to Triple-A Syracuse.

Weston, 26, was designated for assignment by the Orioles earlier this week after making just one appearance in the majors, where he pitched a scoreless inning. To accommodate Weston on their 40-man roster, the Mets designated catcher Shawn Ross for assignment.

Weston was selected by the Orioles in the eighth round of the 2022 draft and had been added to their 40-man roster in May. Despite not having standout statistics, he possesses a diverse pitching arsenal, including a fastball, slider, changeup, splitter, and cutter. The Mets are looking to bolster their rotation, which has faced challenges this season, with several key pitchers traded or reassigned.
