Mets Activate Justin Hagenman from Injured List
The New York Mets have reinstated right-hander Justin Hagenman from the 60-day injured list in preparation for their game against the Tampa Bay Rays. Hagenman is expected to start the game, filling the last spot on the Mets' 40-man roster, while Dylan Ross has been sent back to Triple-A to make room.
Hagenman had been sidelined for over four months due to a fractured rib sustained in spring training. He began a rehabilitation assignment in mid-August, making three starts and reaching 64 pitches over four innings in his last outing with Triple-A Syracuse. His performance in the upcoming game may be somewhat limited.
Last season, Hagenman joined the Mets on a minor league deal and spent most of the year with Syracuse, posting a 5.58 ERA. He made his MLB debut in April and had nine appearances, including one start, earning his first MLB save in August. His pitching repertoire includes a four-pitch mix, with a notable reliance on a cutter and a fastball averaging 93 mph.
