Mets Add Kevin Herget to Roster

The New York Mets have announced the selection of right-handed pitcher Kevin Herget from Triple-A Syracuse. This decision comes after the team traded lefty A.J. Minter to the Minnesota Twins earlier in the week, creating an open roster spot.

To accommodate Herget, the Mets optioned righty Xzavion Curry to Syracuse after he pitched five innings in a long relief appearance. Herget, who is 35 years old, has previously pitched in parts of four major league seasons, including a stint with the Mets in 2025 where he recorded a 3.00 ERA over 12 innings.

Herget has spent a significant portion of the 2026 season on the minor league injured list but is now healthy and performing well, having allowed six runs over 13 2/3 innings this season. The Mets are expected to make additional moves in their bullpen as the trade deadline approaches, with interest in several players, including left-hander Brooks Raley and setup man Luke Weaver.
